A water restoration company will dry your home completely, not just removing excess water. Rip Tide Restoration can help you determine the type of water that you have. You should contact a water restoration specialist to remove any pollution or detect moisture sources.
You can contain the damage. For example, if the source of the problem is a broken pipe or a leak in the ceiling, you may use waterproof tape to limit the damage and avoid future harm temporarily. To determine the extent of damage to the area, contact a water damage restoration expert if it appears to be severe. Move your stuff: Another key factor to consider is relocating your goods, including as furniture, beds, and clothing, to a dry location. The restoration stage is critical in helping you get over the water damage disaster and to move on. Due to the severity of water damage, it is sometimes necessary to replace major fixtures in your home. Nearly all HVAC and drywall systems will need to be replaced. Fortunately, a skilled repair service can do this task in a matter of hours.

These people claim they can save money by doing it themselves, instead of paying for disaster restoration specialists. So, if your pipe bursts on Friday night, don’t wait until Monday morning to notify your agent/insurance company. The steps for fixing water damage are exactly the same as those for any other small spillage. To remove all the water and dry everything off, you will need to disinfect the contaminated areas. The cause of the water damage must also be identified and repaired to prevent further water intrusion. Our water damage specialists will help you repair any water-damaged products.
Water Damage Mitigation
Water mitigation refers to the reduction or prevention of additional water damage after a flood, roof leak, or other water-related event. Quick action is key to avoiding additional damage and saving money. Rip tide Restoration is available to assist with this. Our professionals are capable of providing a wide range of commercial water damage restoration and related services. Backups of contaminated water or sewage – Flooding and sewer backups can cause serious damage to your business and pose a risk to your health. Bacteria, viruses, and other organisms that can cause sickness and illness can be found in sewage and floods. Roof Leaks and Failures – A leaky roof could cause major damage very quickly, which if left unattended can lead to structural problems, such as weak foundations, collapsed buildings, and even death. Carpet & Upholstered Furnishings – Wet carpets are one of the biggest challenges a business has when it comes to dealing with any type of water damage.
We refer to the dry out phase of the task when we use the term “water mitigation.” In other words, the first step is to ensure that all moisture has been removed from the affected areas. It may be necessary to remove certain surfaces or areas as part of this process. The $2,700 mentioned above is only for the initial dry phase.
We can help you repair any water damage in your home.
What types of water damage do we fix?
The water restoration process has two phases. The mitigation phase involves the demolition, cleaning and drying of structures. This takes approximately 3-4 days. The second stage consists of repairs. This phase can take anywhere between a few days and several weeks depending upon the extent of the damage, as well as the time needed to access the damaged components, such a carpet, cupboards or flooring material. The project manager will work with your insurance provider and you to create a detailed schedule detailing all losses. This will ensure that your home can be returned to its original state as quickly as possible.
Rip Tide Restoration will first stop water flow at the source and locate it when they arrive. The water mitigation pros at Rip Tide Restoration will then determine the source of the water and the extent of damage it has caused. We will also question the amount of time the water has been sitting to evaluate whether actions such as using drying equipment to achieve zero moisture content or dehumidifiers to prevent the growth of bacteria or fungi will be required to prevent additional damage. Next, they move on to the removal phase. High-quality equipment is used to remove all water from rooms that have been found. The process length, volume, and type of water are determined by the room size. Next comes the drying stage. This means thoroughly drying every item in the room.
- Category One – Originates from a clean water source and doesn’t pose significant health threats. Examples include a broken water supply line or sink overflow.
- Category Two – Contains significant contamination and has the potential to cause negative health effects. Examples include discharge from dishwashers or washing machines, and broken toilet bowls with urine but no feces.
- Category Three – Grossly contaminated and contains harmful agents. Examples include sewage backups and flooding from groundwater.
Each of these categories can deteriorate to the next level without fast and proper action.
The “class of water” refers to the initial amount of water and the anticipated rate of evaporation. The four classes of water are:
- Class One – Only part of a room or area is wet. There is minimal moisture and little or no carpet or padding is wet.
- Class Two – An entire room is wet, including carpet and padding. Water has also wicked up the walls less than 24 inches.
- Class Three – Water may have come from above with moisture intrusion in the ceilings, walls, floors, insulation, and carpeting.
- Class Four – Materials with very low porosity are wet, such as brick, concrete, and plaster.
Each water damage restoration project is different. It is often difficult to provide an accurate estimate of your work to be completed as there is a wide range of variables that will determine how long the drying equipment needs to remain in place.
We use an insurance-industry-trusted computer software program to generate our billing. Itemized billing is prepared once the structure has been properly dried. You or your insurance company will be billed for the work we have completed.
Our experienced water restoration technicians will be able to determine if your carpet and pad can be salvaged. Factors we take into consideration include the age and condition of the carpet at the time of the water loss, the length of time the carpet was exposed, the source of the water damage, and the temperature of the water.
On average, the process takes three to five days but may take longer depending on the extent of the damage. Our technicians will monitor the progress daily, using state-of-the-art moisture meters. We’ll add, remove, or relocate equipment as necessary to ensure the fastest results.
Equipment left on site should remain running and only be removed by one of our experienced restoration technicians.
You always have a choice in the company that handles your restoration work. Often when you report a loss, your insurance company will recommend one of their preferred vendors. Under the law, you have the right to determine which company will perform that work in your home or business. Quick Response Restoration always keeps your best interests in mind.
Rip Tide Restoration can handle the process from start to finish. First, we’ll complete a “pack out” where all salvageable items are itemized and removed from the property. They’ll be stored at a suitable facility near you. Once there they’ll be dried, deodorized, and cleaned. Your items will be stored safely until you’re ready to move back.
- Regular roof maintenance. It is easy to forget about our roofs, and it is easy to forget about the maintenance services they need until it is too late. Regular inspections can stop water damage and leaks before they begin.
- Outside walls, doors, and windows should be inspected each spring and fall for unusual wear and tear. Water and moisture can penetrate these common areas if they are not maintained regularly.
- Modern well-built and well-insulated properties can trap excess moisture and condensation inside, especially if you have inadequate ventilation. Preventative maintenance can help eliminate future water damages.

About Millsboro, Delaware
Millsboro’s earliest European settlers were of English family origin; though most were second generation colonists who simply migrated north from the eastern shore of Virginia in order to join in the timber drive of the later seventeenth century, which brought many seeking to cut the vast mixed deciduous forests. The settlement itself was created in the second half of the seventeenth century when settlers from Accomack County, Virginia arrived to cut timber along the drainages. At one time no less than seven lumber mills were present, the largest employing over 70 laborers. These early years are well documented in the annals of Virginia history. The township during the first settlement period, although unincorporated, had several stores, churches, a bakery and various tack and blacksmith shops as well as and both Anglican and Presbyterian congregations. The area has many cemeteries dating from this original settlement period, which is considered the founding of the township, including the Lingo Family Cemetery and others.
A second period of settlement occurred after Elisha Dickerson built a dam on the Indian River in the 1792. There had been a settlement there for nearly a century before this, but the building of the dam was considered the official town establishment. At the time it was called “Rock Hole.” The town grew, and more mills were built. The official incorporation of the town was not until 1893 however.
Prior to the Revolutionary War, the present-day Town of Millsboro was located in the Province of Maryland (Somerset and, later, Worcester County). Members of the Nanticoke and related tribes lived, and live, in Millsboro.
